Recent Cinema from Spain

Building on eight successful editions, EGEDA US and The Olympia Theater, with the collaboration of ICAA and CCEMiami, present the 9th RECENT CINEMA FROM SPAIN, a showcase of the most outstanding contemporary Spanish films at the Olympia Theatre in Downtown Miami, from November 21 to November 24, 2019.

The annual series, a fixture on the cultural calendar in Miami, brings Spanish culture to South Florida, from art and music to food, fashion and more.

Over the course of four days, the film series showcases a variety of Spanish movies that range from comedies to award-winning dramas. Up-and-coming as well as established filmmakers and actors from Spain will join at the screenings, at Q&A’s after selected films and at the Opening Night red carpet gala.

ABOUT EGEDA US

EGEDA US is the US-based Iberoamerican producers association.

EGEDA (Spanish acronym for the “Audio-visual Producers’ Rights Management Association”) is a non-profit association and collecting society, which manages the rights of the audiovisual producers. In addition, EGEDA provides services to producers and the audio-visual industry. EGEDA US was set up in Los Angeles to serve as a liaison and to facilitate relations between the US film industry and those of Spain and Latin America. EGEDA US coproduces together with ICAA and The American Cinematheque RECENT SPANISH CINEMA in Los Angeles.

EGEDA also produces Recent Spanish Cinema series in Los Ángeles and LOS PREMIOS PLATINO DEL CINE IBEROAMERICANO.

ABOUT OLYMPIA THEATER

Built in 1926 by Paramount as a Movie and Vaudeville palace, the Olympia Theater is a beacon for the South Florida arts community. The magnificently restored theater is home to live performances, films, community events, corporate meetings and social affairs. The Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) is an independent body ascribed to the ascribed to the Ministry of Culture and Sports , which programs policies to support the film industry and audiovisual production. The Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute (ICAA) is responsible for films and the world of audiovisuals in Spain, their management, functioning, awards, legislation, agreements, grants and subsidies, etc.
