CONCERT OF CHAMBER MUSIC. BOCCHERINI DANCE AND MUSIC AT THE ROYAL COURT.

A CONCERT-SPECTACLE BY THE FORMACIÓ OF CAMBRA ALMODIS.

This performance of the Almodis Chamber Ensemble (Girona) aims at widening the artistic project developed by this ensemble of classical music from Girona on tour all around the Spanish territories.Music and Dance at the Royal Court, is production of the chamber ensemble combining Luigi Boccherini's music and a classical (XVIII) Spanish ballet staging and castanets.The project was launched for the european commemoration of composer's bicentennial death. Luigi Boccherini (Lucca 19th february 1743, Madrid 28th may 1805), is a composer of Italian origin which developed his artistic career mainly in Spain. His work shows the essential Spanish character.La Formació de Cambra Almodis is nowadays the sole chamber ensemble with guitar working permanently within Spanish soil. This new artistic proposal has the aim of promoting performance-concerts combining dance and music.

CHAMBER ENSEMBLE ALMODIS.The Almodis Chamber Ensemble was founded in 1995 by Joan Carles Martínez, a guitar player, with the objective of rediscovering repertoire of catalan composers belonging to the Modernism period (end of the XIX, begining of the XX), having this in mind they play their first concertos accompanied by Rosa Mateu, soprano, performing pieces of J.B. Espadaler, Morera and E. Toldrà and others.From the first moment, the Almodis Chamber Ensemble has been working for the promotion of chamber music played with guitar, not a common instrument in the combinations of string.

The interesting repertoire for string and guitar quartet and the clear-sightedness of the group to follow this idea, has made of the Ensemble an steady working group which received a positive criticism giving support to their performances.It must be of special mention their CD Entorn de Vivaldi , containing concertos for guitar and orquestra and trios with guitar originally for lute, and chamber music, all composed by europeans of the XVIII century.Through the works of L. Boccherini, the Ensemble introduces itself, with their quintet for guitar, in the middle of one of the most fruitful periods of music writting for string and guitar ensemble.At the present time the Ensemble is preparing the first national issue of the integral string and guitar quintets of Luigi Boccherini produced by Columna Música .

The Almodis Chamber Ensemble is bonded to the city Diputació of Girona.
