" Cervantes at the Parnassus: textual autoportraits and Italian painting"

Speaker: Dr. Frederick de Armas de la Universidad de Chicago.

On the occasion of the commemoration of Don Quixote's IV centenary , the Spanish Education Office in Miami, The Center of Spanish Resources, and Florida International University present with the support of CCE the lecture "Cervantes ante el Parnaso: autorretratos textuales y pintura italiana" that will be imparted by Frederick de Armas (PhD) from the University of Chicago.

Frederick A. de Armas is Doctor in Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina. He focuses on the literature of the Spanish Golden Age often from a comparative perspective. His interests include the politics of astrology; magic and the Hermetic tradition; ekphrasis; the relations between the verbal and the visual particularly between Spanish literature and Italian Art; and the interconnections between myth and empire during the rule of the Habsburgs. He has edited some ten books on his studies and he currently works at the University of Chicago. At CCE.
