"Hispano-American Lyric Concert "

Centro Cultural Español presents next Wednesday 5 at 8 p.m. the Lyric Concert by the Spanish tenor and Alfredo Kraus disciple Aurelio Gabaldón Gutiérrez, and the Cuban pianist Jose Ignacio Diaz-Gravier.

 AURELIO GABALDÓN, tenor

Aurelio Gabaldón (native of Avilés, Spain) is a disciple of the famous Spanish tenor Alfredo Kraus, for many experts the best tenor of the 50s of Spain, and has studied singing in the prestigious School of Music " Reina Sofía" (Madrid, Spain) . He has also attended master classes by the sopranos Ileana Cotrubas and Renata Scotto, the tenor Jaime Aragall, Dennis O'Neill and Ana Maria Pizzoli

He has been awarded in several competitions like "Voces Ibéricas" (best interpreter of Spanish Music), and finalist in many others ("Francesco Maria Martini", "Toti dal Mounts" and "Cità I gave Alcamo"). His repertoire includes Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti (Barbero, Puritani, La Hija del Regimiento, El Elixir de Amor, among others). He has taken part in the "Accademia Rossiniana" invited by the director Alberto Zedda; in the Liceo de Barcelona he interpreted "I Puritani" (Arturo) in concert version. He performed for the first time Juan Carlos Casimiro "Danza Prima" and "Somiedo" in the Teatro Jovellanos of Gijón. He has also performed at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid; the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao; the Teatro Romea de Murcia and Teatro del Bosque de Madrid; and in the Teatro Comunale de Treviso, Venecia.

JOSE IGNACIO DIAZ-GRAVIER, Concert Pianist

Jose Ignacio was born in Havana (Cuba). By the age of 10 he had entered the "Alberto Falcon Conservatory. In the United States, he continued studying with Helen Tuntland-Jackson at "David Hochstein Memorial Music School", in Rochester, New York; and in Miami at Miami-Dade Community College with Professor Dr. Elizabeth Fishbein. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degree in music. He also graduated with a Doctorate of Music from the University of Miami this time under the world renowned concert pianist and professor Dr. Rosalina Sackstein (former student of Claudio Arrau).

REPERTOIRE

The music "La donna e mobile" of RIGOLETTO (Verdi), "Siboney" of LECUONA and "El día que me quieras" of GARDEL will be performed.
