Migrations: Facing South is a project headed by AECID (Spanish Agency of Cooperation and Development). This is a multidisciplinary art project with the participation of the Cultural Centers of Spain in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Miami. The general objective of the project is to contribute to the acknowledgement of human rights: social, work related and cultural of the migratory population from Central America both in the origin and destination societies. The goal is to establish a dialog and critical thinking about the repercussions of human activity that is more and more constant and not much studied from a cultural point of view. It is because of those reasons Migrations: Facing South is a project that arises as a space for the circulation, studio and reflection of the Central American migratory phenomenon and their cultural repercussions.

Synopsis

 Synopsis
This documentary is located in the border of South Mexico and Guatemala, in the region of Soconusco. It narrates the testimonies of Central American immigrant women arrested in control points at the roads, in hostels for emigrants, at the station of the ghost train and in the migratory station of Tapachula, Chiapas. Prostitution night clubs are visited during the film.

 Sypnosis
El Chogüí is the story of a dream. It is the dream of thousands and thousands of men and women in search of prosperity. This is the dream of two young people: Luis (El Chogüí) and his sister Lucila. They live with their parents in a small town of Oaxaca in South Mexico. Both decide to immigrate to the States in search of a better life for them and their family.  It is the story of a family taken apart by the poverty, the epic fight of a young guy searching a better life for him and his family with the only desire of having the possibility of living a worthy life with his hard work.

The first American soldier who deserted and declared himself conscientious objector was Camilo Mejía, a Nicaraguan immigrant. The documentary Querido Camilo tells the story of this young man from his friends' perspective. The son of the song writer Carlos Mejía Godoy who is part of a family that participated in the "Sandinista" revolution, is today a symbol of the pacifist movement in USA.

Every day, thousands of people leave their Central American countries to reach USA. Crossing the Mexican border is one of the more dangerous migratory routes in the world. In a small region North of Guatemala and South Mexico, coexist the hopes and failures of men, women and children confronting the distance that exist between the American dream and the Mexican nightmare. This documentary was filmed with a small digital camera. It is the story of a young man, Noé, who talks with the director during the recording and whose last encounter offers us an unexpected ending.
