Schedule

7 p.m.

In relation to the closing of the current exhibition, CCEMiami invites you to the Exhibition Catalogue Presentation Ramón Alejandro vs Elio Rodríguez. Panelists will include the artists Ramón Alejandro and Elio Rodríguez, Alfredo Triff, a philosophy professor at Miami-Dade College and art critic, and curator of the exhibition, Dennys Matos, who will moderate this panel.

The edition of the catalog includes 96 pages in English and Spanish, showcasing the artworks by the artists as well as, texts from Ignacio Moralejo Ledo, Director at CCEMiami and Dennys Matos.

The exhibition ‘Ramón Alejandro vs Elio Rodríguez’ includes around twenty works, including medium-sized paintings and sculptures, most of them created for this exhibition. The works of Elio Rodríguez (Havana, 1966) are mainly soft sculptures, while Ramón Alejandro (Havana, 1943) exhibits paintings and a small bronze sculpture. In addition, we will be able to enjoy three works made by four hands between Ramón Alejandro and Elio Rodríguez, specially created for the exhibition.

As the curator of the exhibition Dennys Matos, “the exhibition ‘Ramón Alejandro vs Elio Rodríguez’, brings together the work of two Cuban neo-figurative artists of very different generations and trajectories, but both attracted to reinterpret, from an overflowing sensuality, the Cuban pictorial and sculptural tradition from the XX century. They assume the contemporaneity of it, as a synthesis between the popular and the high culture, between the eroticism and sexuality, refusing to believe in the dominant representations of the reality of power and self-affirming politics.
