The lives of five eccentric and modern mothers of Madrid have their lives entwined a few days before their sons wed in the first gay marriage in the history of Spain.  That’s how, while Reyes (Marisa Paredes) deliberates what to do with her gardener –to seduce him or to fire him- everything will happen: Ofelia (Betiana Blum) will declare the search and capture of her pet, Magda (Carmen Maura) will have to tame a revolution, Nuria (Verónica Forqué) will kiss the wrong man, and Helena (Mercedes Sampietro) will prepare for the most difficult case of her career.  And, there will be no adversity capable of preventing any of the five Queens (“Reinas”) from assisting the most important ceremony in the lives of her sons.

Marisol is a young girl with a big heart and an overflowing imagination.  She’s a witness to a robbery of a famous painting, The Madonna of the Roses (“La Madonna de las Rosas”) and its replacement with a forgery.  Logically, initially no one believes her, but ultimately the truth behind her story is verified.  The leader of the band of three thieves is called Pepe and is a well known ventriloquist artistically known as “Joe Carter”.  When Marisol appears on television threatening them to return the painting or she’ll reveal what they have done, the thieves decide to kidnap her.  But what the thieves don’t know is that they also have good hearts…
